About Us

Calling Crow Farm is located on 150 acres of land in the rural community of Rocky Mound, Tennessee (Macon County). The farm sits atop the northern Highland Rim section of the state, an area long renown for its ability to grow great strawberries. We only cultivate about 2 acres for all our berry crops.  The rest of the farm is divided into pastures, hayfields, meadows and forested hollows.

The Farm

Four generations have now called this farm home. The original tract of land was purchased by my grandfather, Hubert Bullington, in 1932. According to family lore, he was a very skilled farmer, who paid off the land in just a few years by growing strawberries. This was not an easy feat to achieve, even in those days.  It is in his memory that we started Calling Crow Farm in 2014.

Today, strawberries are still our signature crop. We also offer other berries and fruit crops that will be available in the near future. Our goal is to provide a wide array of products to our customers year-round.

The Farmers

(Chris Bullington)

Chris was born and raised in Macon County, Tennessee, a true country boy who always dreamed of leaving home. He spent many years away in college, where eventually he met Iko in graduate school. After marrying and living in Japan for a couple of years, the desire for a simpler life began calling him home. In 1996, he finally returned to the farm with his wife and young son. Having earned a masters degree in botany, Chris worked as a field botanist, a conservation planner and a science teacher. After 20 years of working ‘off-farm’ jobs, he joined Iko full time on the farm in 2018. He is now dedicated to raising the best berries in the world and continuing the farm legacy.

Chris & Atlas

(Iko Bullington)

Iko was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. An island girl at heart, she grew up in the city of Naha. When she left home at the age of eighteen to ‘see the world’, farming was the last thing on her mind. Educated in England & Seattle in computer technology and business, she eventually came to graduate school in Tennessee, where she met Chris. After several more years away, she arrived at the farm in 1996 with her now husband and young son to build a life in the country. While homeschooling, she discovered a passion for farming. She loves taking care of her animals and being outdoors. She has spent over 20 years managing the family homestead and building the business. She is the inspiration and driving force behind Calling Crow Farm.
